With the massive audience social media offers to companies, it should be a no-brainer that everyone in a company including and especially senior executives should try to win over customers using the various platforms which are currently available.

However, only 1 in 5 chief executives have social media accounts.

That is relatively low when you compare it to 2 in 5 CEOs who appear in company videos and over 2 in 5 of CEOs who have a biography on company websites.

As this infographic hints, CEOs who are not on social media are missing out on a lot of potential customers.

According to the data gathered by MBAOnline.com for the infographic, 8 in 10 social media users in the United States prefer to connect with brands through social media rather than the company website.

The most social CEOs are the successful ones, the infographic suggests.

Among the world’s 50 top-performing companies, 66 percent of their CEOs had a social media account.

It’s an important channel to build reputation. Studies show that 49 percent of corporate reputation is attributed to how people view the CEO.

A well-planned and executed social media plan for a chief executive’s social media account can go a long way.
