Unlocked Samsung Galaxy Nexus Now Available In The US

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus now holds recognition as Google’s flagship device but it also wants more by digging a hole in customers’ pockets.

US customers who are eyeing an unlocked Samsung Galaxy Nexus for their next handset better think twice when shopping with family because it just arrived on local stores and carries a price tag of $750 on Expansys USA, which still is less expensive than a brand new Apple iPhone 4s.

The Android Ice Cream Sandwich touting Galaxy Nexus comes unlocked/lock-free/contract-free/SIM-free, or whatever applicable name that comes into mind, which could account for the heftier price.

Up to now, Expansys USA is the only US retailer to confirm that it has the SIM-free 16GB Samsung Galaxy Nexus I9250 in stock while the 32GB is also up for pre-order.

In comparison, an unlocked 16GB Apple iPhone 4S (Black) costs $1,000 on Expansys USA, with the 32GB version toting a $1,100 price tag.

The Galaxy Nexus is the world’s first smartphone to sport Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system.

Ice Cream Sandwich boasts a completely new Android experience, redesigning the UI with better multitasking capability, notifications and a richer web browsing experience.

The handset is also the first smartphone to come with a 4.65-inch 720p HD (1280×720 pixels) Super AMOLED display for immersive gaming, multimedia and web browsing capabilities in high-quality clearness.

Contour Display was a trademark feature for the Nexus S, but its successor carried it over to offer a curved form that reportedly is an ideal fit for the palm or to the facial contour when calling.

The battery cover touts a hyper-skin backing that should meliorate the ergonomics of the handset and make it intolerant to accidental slips.

At only 8.94mm thick and a minimal 4.29mm bezel, the Galaxy Nexus allows for brilliant portability and handling.

The Google phone also has a 1.2GHz dual-core Cortex-A9 processor inside a TI OMAP 4460 chipset for faster processing, seamless screen interactions and better multitasking.
