Tabby Awards organized to award best business tablet apps

Soon, app developers may be clamoring to get a Tabby.

The very first competition for tablet applications, The Tabby Awards, is now accepting nominations for 14 categories of apps.

The first stage of the competition focuses on business tablet apps with the second round which focuses on consumer tablet apps to be announced at a later date.

Organized by TabTimes, a site which covers developments specific to the tablet industry, the new Tabby Awards want to honor the best tablet apps out in the market.

There are 14 categories which developers will be competing in. These are:

  1. Productivity
  2. Communication
  3. Collaboration
  4. Intelligence, information and reference
  5. IT or business tool
  6. Healthcare and pharmaceutical
  7. Education and professional training
  8. Finance (including insurance)
  9. Retail
  10. Sales (sales person/team support)
  11. Government, institution, and public service
  12. In the field (out-of-office use)
  13. Consumer products and services (related to any consumer-focused activity not included in a specific category above; industry examples: entertainment, trael, consumer goods, automotice, real estate, etc.)
  14. Business products and services (related to any B2B activity not included in a specific category above)

The winners in all the 14 categories of the Tabby Awards will be revealed at an event during the  TabletBiz Conference & Expo to be held in New York City on November 27.

Business tablet apps on the iOS, Android and Windows 8 platforms will be competing in the Tabby Awards.

According to the organizers, an international panel of tablet professionals will be judging the apps submitted to the competition.

Introducing The Tabby Awards, the First Competition to Honor the Best Apps for Tablets

Recognizing Excellence for the Best Apps for iPad, Android and Windows 8 tablets, Call for Submissions to the Tabby Awards are Now Open

New York, September 20, 2012 – Tablet apps now have their own competition: The Tabby Awards.

For the very first time, the best apps for iPad, Android and Windows tablets will be judged for their outstanding tablet specific features and utility by a panel of tablet professionals. The competition will be open to both native apps and web apps for tablets and will include app developers worldwide.

Consumer and Business apps will be evaluated by two separate panels, with the Business category representing the focus of the first round.

The Business panel will review all apps geared for business people or developed for organizational purposes. It is comprised of 12 accomplished tablet professionals and chaired by Alan Maserek, ex-CEO and co-founder of QuickOffice, the best-selling iPad app in the App Store’s Business category.

Submissions are now being accepted for business tablet apps at Winners for The Tabby Awards/Business will be announced at a special ceremony during the TabletBiz Conference & Expo, the first dedicated tablet industry event, in New York City, on November 27, 2012.

The second round of the competition, focused on tablet apps for consumers, will be announced at a later date.
