After releasing its Symbian Anna update on the N8, Nokia posted a new video featuring the Nokia E7 business messaging smartphone, part of the Finnish company’s Communicator series, running on the upcoming Symbian^3 OS update.
The official video (using French) features a refreshing Symbian^3 look and user experience for a more modern feel.
Key parts of the update include a full screen calendar app, calendar side-by-side and calendar view with agenda which were present on older Symbian S60 phones but missing on Symbian^3 until now.
In addition, the update features an improved method to interact with contacts, where long pressing a contact pops up options for calling or sending messages.
Symbian has never had a major breakthrough in the U.S. market, but Symbian followers and users worldwide can savor this new video for a more contemporary OS while Nokia rolls it out on all compatible devices.
For a more viable Symbian OS experience, users can wait for the next update called Symbian Belle following Symbian Anna’s release.
Rumors and leaked photos have it that Nokia’s Symbian Belle replaces the soft key navigation buttons on the bottom with a GUI toolbar that is more icon-based.
