Two of the most widely-discussed areas in digital marketing are matched up in this infographic we have today: Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Social Media.

So, which of the two wins in marketing?

Let’s look at the different parameters offered by the infographic. First up is lead generation.

“Generating leads is probably the most important marketing strategy you’ll need to consider. And for those in the lead generation industry, SEO is the top most effective activity,” the infographic says.

Score 1 for SEO as it got 41 percent of respondent saying in a survey that it has the biggest impact on lead generation goals. However, 34.2 percent also said the same thing for social media.

What if we look at brand awareness?

The infographic says: “There’s no denying, improving the awareness of your brand will see positive effects on your business. And this is social media’s forte, creating brand exposure and awareness with platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.”

Social media creates additional brand exposure, increases website traffic and subscribers and boosts search ranking on internet engines, the infographic notes.
