The social media is reshaping the we way we live, the way we relate with people, and the way we build relationships with others. Facebook for instance, connects more than 1.7 billion people—new connections are being made daily, while reconnections with old friends only takes a person’s first and last names. The beauty of it is that it costs next to nothing; you don’t pay any subscription to have someone link up with you on the social media. Some guys think things can be done differently—and a new social media app solely dedicated to rich guys just hit the internet. ‘Rich Kids’ is a new social network exclusively for the rich—members pay $1,000/month.
Unlike your regular everyday social media networks such as Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, Rich Kids, which launched On Tuesday will charge $1,000 per every member every month—now that’s huge. The idea behind it, according to the owners, is to give voice to the rich, especially when it comes to showing off their wealth. The owners believe that the rich do not always get the kind of attention they deserve in a free social network site because of the ‘crowd.’
The second idea behind setting up Rich Kids and making it exclusive for the rich is to help the needy. Per TNW, Rich Kids’ CEO Juraj Ivan, said a third of the monthly membership fee will go to the “education of poor kids.” In other words, Ivan and his team are ‘hiding’ under the guise of helping the poor, but depriving them the right to post on the network.

Rich Kids, according to the owners, is ‘open’ to everyone [talking about registration], but only those who can afford the $1,000/month subscription have the right to post. So, it’s for everyone, and not for everyone. The poor can only observe and watch the rich do their thing; sounds absurd in my opinion.
“We created something different. A new social network where our members can really stand out and be visible in an elegant and meaningful way. Share their life with other users and build a true fan base. Only members of Rich Kids can share photos. To become a member user has to subscribe to Rich Kids Membership. To ensure the quality and exclusivity of our members the membership is set to be $1,000 per month,” the company said, per TNW.
To put it bluntly, it’s a platform for the rich to flaunt their wealth while the poor “cheer” on since they are not allowed to post because they can’t afford the membership fee. At Rich Kids, you can’t be heard if you can’t afford the membership fee, but you can applaud how the rich display their wealth.
I won’t bet against a few rich guys getting excited about the idea of joining the Rich Kids platform; but would bet that this might not last the distance. The idea of having a social network that charges its members $1,000/month is completely at variance with what everyone is used to.
