Huawei has announced that its MediaPad tablet will ship with the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS).
The Chinese phone maker is apparently catching up with the slew of rivals that promise to release an Android ICS update for their devices, and so it finally decided to offer the operating system preloaded on its MediaPad slate.
To add more flavor, Huawei also said that the tablet will arrive in three new color variants from the original silver coating, namely shadow black, classic brown and passion pink.
“In a tablet market defined by staid black and white tablets, the new colourful Mediapad offers a personalised look without the need for an external case,” said Richard Yu, Chairman of Huawei.
Shipments of the Huawei MediaPad with Android ICS out of the box will be available in the first quarter of this year and existing owners will receive an upgrade by the end of this quarter.
Huawei made huge announcements during this year’s International Consumer Electronics Show, including the world’s thinnest smartphone with the Ascend P1 S.
