Justin Bieber gave fans the chills on Christmas Day as he said he was “officially retiring”, in a tweet.

The Canada-born international pop star said in his tweet that went viral: “My beloved beliebers I’m officially retiring”

The tweet now has nearly 250,000 retweets and nearly 190,000 favorites. Bieber was for a long time the owner of the most followed account on Twitter.

Bieber’s tweet came after a recent revelation in an interview that he will soon be retiring after his next album.

Bieber told the radio station Power 106 Los Angeles, “After the new album, I’m actually retiring man. I’m retiring.”

Those who welcomed the retirement may not be happy for long, however, as Bieber followed the tweet with several other tweets that hint he will not be gone forever.

“Be kind loving to each other, forgive each other as god forgave us through Christ Merry Christmas IM HERE FOREVER,” he said in another.
