As pointed out in our last article, social media can contribute a lot to SEO campaigns.

That is apart from engaging fans and hopefully getting new customers and clients out of all this engagement.

What we have here now is an infographic that boldly suggests that you can increase Google+ engagement by up to 281 percent by following the advice it gives.

Google+ should be an important part of your SEO campaign not because it is the biggest but because it is closely connected to the biggest search engine there is at the moment.

Nonetheless, this is not saying that Facebook and the other bigger social networks totally thrashes Google+.

In fact, according to the infographic from Quick Sprout, Google+ has pretty impressive numbers itself.

Google+, it turns out has 500 million registered users: 63 percent of which are males and 37 percent females. Furthermore, 48 percent of Fortune Global 100 companies and 40 percent of marketers are using Google+.

Additionally, an impressive 28 percent of Google+ users make at least $60,000 a year. Though it may not seem much in the context of Facebook photo uploads, 1.5 billion photos are uploaded to Google+ every week – certainly an impressive number.

In terms of monthly active “in-Stream users,” Google+ has 300 million of them.

So what features of Google+ will help your small business or organization? These are Pages, Posts, Hangouts and Circle.

Pages lets businesses share thoughts, links, photos, and promotions. Posts help businesses interact with their audience. Hangouts allow businesses to video chat with customers and colleagues getting face-to-face feedback while circles lets businesses direct specific content to different types of customers.

Increasing Engagement by 281 Percent

There are basically five types of content listed by the infographic which will increase engagement.

First is Animated GIFs. Animated GIFs receive 39 percent more +1s.

Second is Quotes. These receive 16 percent more +1s.

Third is Questions. Questions get a whopping 188 percent more comments.

Fourth is Images. Photos receive 9.4 percent more +1s.

And fifth is Videos. Videos, this says, receive 28.6 percent more +1s.

Nonetheless, posting the right type of content on social media would be better if more people are actually on their social media accounts to see the content.

According to Quick Sprout, the best times to share on Google + is every Friday between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. That does not mean, however, that you should not post anything outside of those times.

Furthermore, the infographic suggests that Google+ account owners build a relevant network of people; participate in communities; post blogs with keywords, links, and images; engage people by commenting +1ing, and sharing other posts; and hanging out to increase engagement.
