Google Maps for iOS released an update and it includes a multi-stop feature. The update is stated to make it easier for you to plan your road trips or for just running errands.

The said feature has been on Android since June. With this feature on iOS, you can tap the Add Stop button and rearrange your destinations by simply dragging them around.

Google Maps on iOS

“Just open the app, enter a destination, tap the corner menu, and then tap “Add stop”. To rearrange the order of your stops, tap and hold the stop you want to move and drag it to the position you want. Once you’ve added all your stops, tap “Done” and your multi-stop route is complete. When you enter navigation mode you’ll have the same seamless driving experience you’re used to, whether you’re going from errand to errand or hitting scenic spots along Route 66.”

A multi-stop feature is an essential tool. Before, you would need to complete a trip and start a new one. That is, if you are looking for gas stations and department stores on your way, you could not navigate to one of those stops without completing one trip.

The introduction of this feature allows you to enter every stop you need to make, and the app will show you the entire route automatically.

In addition to Multi-stop feature, Google Maps on Android has timeline tool. But the tech giant has not announced yet as to when this feature will be coming to iOS.

Timeline tool enables you to see your location history in a timeline format. On Android, tap the Timeline option within the app. From there, you will find a map about where you spent your time on a particular day, month or year.

The great thing about it is that you can visualize your routine. You can see where you have been in the last couple of months. If you use Google Photos, the tool will let you see photos that you captured on a given day.

Your timeline is only accessible by you. At any time, you can delete places or the entire history. However, you can only access your timeline if you opt to store your location history.

This timeline tool is not yet on Google Maps for iOS. It is one of the underrated features of Google Maps for Android. For some, this tool is not that useful. For those who have been relying on it, they know how convenient Timeline tool is especially if they tend to forget what places they have been.

It lets you remember your spouse’s favorite restaurant or a vacation spot somewhere in the city. Timeline tool is a useful journal, instead of just a simple list of all places you have been to.

The Multi-stop feature may not be available immediately to your iOS device. It may take a few days or weeks for the update to show up on your device. While waiting for the update to come, you just have to plan your routes the old way.
