Google Hangouts Has a New Website – Better and More Intuitive

Well, this is good news for you as Google has launched a separate website for this application. This instant messaging app offers voice and video calls, in addition to its instant messaging capacity.

With its latest dedicated website, it becomes handy for its active users who don’t want to log into their Gmail or Google Plus accounts just to use this IM. To access its website, simply point your browser to hangouts.google.com.

The Google Hangout website offers an almost the same experience when you use its Chrome Hangouts app. However, the website offers a different kind of approach. Unlike the Chrome app, the website doesn’t have floating chat bubbles. Instead, chats will have smaller browser windows.

When you log in, you’ll be asked to approve the app’s plug-in for your browser. If you don’t allow it, however, you won’t be able to use Hangouts through the web. That said, if you’re going to use it, you’ll have to approve it first.

Hangouts website will still allow you to message your friend. Group chats capacity is still there. You can add up to 100 people in one group chat. It also supports tickets, GIFs, maps and emojis.

The list of conversations is found on its left side. When you click on one chat, a smaller chat window opens up that you can find on its lower-right side.

From the window that pops up, you can send photos and type emoji, among other things.

Easy to Set Up

With the latest website of Hangouts, setting up videos becomes a lot easier. When conducting a video call, you can either opt for a one-on-one set up or a group call.

If you wish to end your conversation on the web and use your mobile device to continue the conversation, Hangouts will allow you to do so as all your chats are synced among your mobile devices. Thus, even if you use Hangouts on iOS or Android, you can view your chat history.

The website of Google Hangouts is very intuitive. It has large icons for messages, phone calls and video calls. Smaller icons are found on the left to help you start a new conversation. The left pane will have your chat history.

Clicking on the three-dot icon will pull up all links for the Hangouts app on Chrome, iOS and Android. You’ll also find it here the Settings.

You’ll also be amazed of the wallpapers being displayed by Google Hangouts website. The photos appeared to be coming from the Google Plus profiles of selected professional photographers. The wallpaper changes each time you visit the site or refreshes the browser. It’s actually a wonderful experience so you won’t get bored with the same photo.

Similar with Messenger Service

The move of Google to give Hangouts its own website is similar to what Facebook did to its Messenger service in April.

Google Hangouts is one of the services of Google that have been moved from Google Plus. Earlier this month, Google removed its private photo management from Google+.

What do you think of the new Google Hangouts website?
