Google Assistant has just welcomed a new update that will enable it assist you with making a video call on either Duo or Hangouts. The powerful assistant on your phone only needs you to say “video call contact_name” and you will get a reply telling you that a video call on Duo or Hangouts [depending on which one is installed on your phone] is being made.
Sounds like the default video calling app for Assistant is Duo, but Android Police reports that it sometimes gets sent to Hangouts. The feature sounds like it is still rolling out, but there is no doubt that you will soon [that is if you have not already started using the feature] be able to ask the assistant to make a video call.
In your Google Assistant settings, you will notice a renamed Voice and Video calls section where you can link your Google Duo account. If you haven’t seen this yet, then I guess you may have to wait a little while as not many users have been able to notice it just yet.
Why not drop us a comment if you have been able to make a video call via your Assistant? We would love to hear from you.
In other Google Assistant-related news, a new update that will enable the powerful assistant to start pulling your curated personal information was launched recently.
The smart assistant will curate information and have them laid out in a single overview quickly access. Though, your overviews will always be available all through the day, you can, however, check for updates by simply tapping the new icon located in the top right hand corner of your Assistant on iOS or Android.
For all those who love going to the movies, Google had last May signed a deal with Fandango that will allow users obtain movie tickets. If you are a movie freak and desperately need to buy a ticket to watch “Avengers: Infinity War,” or “Black Panther,” or any box office movie; then Google Assistant can be of help. All you need to say is: “buy tickets,” or “Hey Google, get me tickets for [Avengers: Infinity War for example] … Perhaps, you are not so sure of the name of the movie you want to watch, then you can simply just say, “showtimes near me,” and a selection of movies currently showing at cinemas near you will be displayed.
Though, Apple users can also buy tickets when using Siri, that it is a bit different with Google Assistant. While you have to download the Fandango app before you can buy your movie tickets when using Siri, Google Assistant grants you direct access to the tickets.
