Google Android Market Redesigned, Takes on Apple iOS App Store

google-android-market-redesigned-takes-on-apple-ios-app-storeGoogle is closing gaps with Apple by releasing an updated version of its own Android Market for rival iOS App Store yesterday evening, redesigning some parts of the user interface.

With over 100,000 apps, Google Android Market currently ranks way below but second to Apple iOS App Store, which boasts more than 300,000 apps.

Google Inc, the largest U.S. Internet company, is amplifying its efforts on luring consumers towards Android, the fastest rising mobile platform with more than 300,000 activations per day, and paving the way for upcoming Android tablets.

Adding a carousel on the home screen, users can now highlight apps that will immediately appear on the foreground.

App pages are now smoother and more dynamic, showing all app details on a single page with better parental control for sensitive content.

This update is for lucky users who have Android 1.6 or higher, covering most of the Android devices available on the market today.
