The holiday season is here again, and Facebook is keeping up with its tradition of helping people make the best of it. The social media giant is encouraging users to make use of one of its hugely unpopular features to share gift ideas with friends and family. ‘Collections;’ a feature not often used by users can now be used to share content they have been saved by them.

The holiday season is in full swing, and people are turning to Facebook to find and buy gifts. To help you send gift ideas more easily, we’re introducing the ability for people to share a collection of content saved on Facebook with specific friends and family,” a Facebook blog post explained.

Facebook considers the holiday season as the best time to encourage people to share content, videos, ads and posts previously saved. The social media behemoth is hoping that this helps to turn collections into a more collaborative tool. To start, simply open up a collection, and click the ‘invite’ button. Other users too can be invited to become contributors to that collection.

“With today’s launch, you can now share a collection so friends can view the content you’ve gathered and add new posts. For example, if you create a collection of products – a holiday wish list of sorts – you can share it with a group of hand-selected family members on Facebook to give them ideas of what gifts you’d love to receive for the holidays.”

As the holiday season kicks off, one update that may excite a lot of users on Facebook is “Watch Party.” The social media giant has last week opened up Watch Party to every user—including profiles and Pages. The feature, which allows people to watch videos online in groups, was first launched late in July, will now be available to profiles and businesses all over the world. Going forward, anyone can post a Watch party invite to hook up with other viewers. This will allow everyone to simultaneously watch videos they have discovered on the platform [Facebook].

Facebook is unrelenting in its drive to make the feature popular among people. In doing so, the social media behemoth is now making it possible to Pages and Groups to schedule a Watch Party to attract more viewers.

Today we’re launching Watch Party to all Pages and people on Facebook, the next milestone in our journey to build social, interactive experiences around video on Facebook. Watch Party enables people, creators, and publishers to watch, discuss and react to playlists of videos together in real time, in a shared space,” Matt Labunka and Eric Price, Product Managers wrote.

The company also plans to make Watch Party a place where people can also contribute by way of commenting on videos. Watch Party hosts will be able to go Live picture-in-picture so they can post comments in real-time.
