Facebook has debuted a new app called Facebook 360. Facebook 360 is a dedicated app designed as a hub for the 360 video and photo content posted on its platform. For now, Facebook said the app will only be available for the Gear VR mobile headset; and has directed users to download the app in the Oculus Store.

Today, we’re making 360 photos and videos even more immersive and easier to discover with the launch of the Facebook 360 app for Samsung Gear VR, powered by Oculus. The app is an exciting new way to explore Facebook 360 photos and videos,” Facebook said.

TechCrunch reports that Facebook 360 will feature four major “feeds” when launched, and will deliver content into users’ eyeballs at a range closer than ever. The four major feeds include:

  • Explore: this tab will give users a bird’s-eye look at the 360 content, which is already popular among Facebook users.
  • Following: this tab will allow you dial into the content being produced by your friends.
  • Saved: this tab will offer you an opportunity to have a feel of what 360 content you may have seen on the web in a more immersive in-headset experience.
  • Timeline: this tab allows you to check out your own 360 photos and videos from a single location.

Facebook 360 offers people excellent opportunities to “discover plenty of great content.” According to Facebook, more than 25 million 360 photos and more than 1 million 360 videos have been posted on the platform to date—and this offers loads of opportunities to discover content. The app will offer users great opportunities to catch up on what they have missed from their friends as well as those they follow.
