Google did it to ensure that people would not disable the location settings.

Google’s core business is still advertising. It’s one reason it has to capture your location constantly. Location tracking can be necessary for some apps to work properly.

But if you don’t want the apps to know your location, you can turn the location tracking off. It’s easy for iPhone users to disable it.

Unfortunately, Android users will have to dig deeper just to disable it.

Google deliberately made it harder for Android users to prevent users from disabling location tracking. This is based on some uncovered documents.

Arizona Attorney General’s Office

In an ongoing lawsuit against the tech behemoth, the Arizona attorney general’s office accused Google of collecting location data even when users disabled the tracking function.

The court docs also revealed that Google’s own employees were concerned about the company’s practices.

The things that the attorney general’s office uncovered validated that the tech giant is doing everything to spy on every Android user without offering a notice.

The lawsuit also stated that the tech giant was using deceitful practices just to track its users’ location, even though they just opted out of being tracked.

Google used the data to provide users with targeted ads that can help the company in generating billions of dollars in revenue.

Deceptive Practices of Google

In 2018, the Associated Press article revealed the deceptive practices of Google. But even after that revelation, Google continued to track its users’ location to obtain their location history.

The report also showed that some Google apps store automatically time-stamped data without prompting the users.

Even though Google changed its privacy settings, the lawsuit was filed in May 2020. It is part of Republican attorneys general and lawmakers’ push to tame Big Tech. Google supposedly acted deceptively to trick its consumers.

The lawsuit also stated that Google continued to find ways to collect that information and utilize the data for its financial advantage.

However, Google accused the state of distorting what it does.

Google and Oracle

The tech behemoth said that the suit has been pushed by Oracle. Google and Oracle met in court over the rights to software code utilized in the Android program.

This report stated that Oracle has been urging law enforcement agents to go after Google because of its privacy concerns and other matters.

Google said that its competitors, including Oracle, are going out of their way to ruin its services.

The company stated that it values the privacy of its users. It has built privacy features that allow users to control what data they want to be shared.

But emails between Google engineers showed that they are concerned about the tech giant’s practices. These engineers believed that the matters included in the article were valid.

The attorney general’s office denied that the lawsuit is an exclusive issue. It’s not a Democrat subject or a Republican issue.

However, the office conceded that fighting against this tech behemoth can be quite challenging. The tech search giant has lawyers and lobbyists. It will do everything it can to stop any lawsuit.
