According to reports from Fusible, Steve Chen and Chad Hurley, the founders of YouTube, are coming up with an app called Zeen that allows users to make beautiful magazines. Just like YouTube, except this time, it’s not videos but magazines.
That is the only information available regarding Zeen according to Fusible, although you can go to zeen.com and sign up with a username for reservation. After creating an account, which you can link with your Twitter or Facebook accounts, Zeen prompts you saying congratulations for signing up to something they’re currently in the process of creating.
Those who signed up will receive further notifications via email when Zeen is already available for use. In the meantime, you can check out their Facebook and Twitter (@zeen) accounts for currently vague updates.
Do-it-yourself apps with easy and elaborate functionality have been getting a lot of success lately in mobile devices. Take the example of Instagram, which allows you to make photos look vintage and stylistic easily. In addition, it becomes more successful when you can share your creations with your friends through social networking sites.
Given Chen’s and Hurley’s success with YouTube, perhaps Zeen can be as successful, giving users the opportunity to create text and photo-ridden magazines without learning the appropriate Adobe software or something similar.
It definitely is a strategy by the YouTube founders to leave everything in suspense and keep users in anticipation of what this whole product is really about and how it works.
