When you check out YouTube on Android or through a web browser, you would find something that you possibly connect more with Twitter, i.e. the hashtags. The platform currently enables uploaders to include hashtags to their descriptions and video titles. This new feature makes it less complicated for audiences to discover their networks and content.

YouTube’s hashtags are clickable. They can give you a results page with other videos labeled with the same hashtags. The site will also present the leading three hashtags at the end of the video and over its title.

When it comes to including hashtags in a clip, uploaders could just add the phrase that comes before the # sign in the video title or summary. In both areas, hashtags will be hyperlinked immediately. And also, when there are no hashtags in the title, the initial three in the summary will be revealed on the top, by default.

Google’s hashtags policy stated that uploaders couldn’t utilize spaces between words in the said feature. It’s also not possible to include greater than 15 hashtags in one clip. Aside from that, the company’s standards specify that videos could be removed if deceptive and false hashtags are included. No hashtag could be included that relates to any kind of harassment, sexual content and repulsive language.

Fortunately, YouTube appears to have learned about the dark side of this feature form other platforms.

However, it’s unsure how Google will impose those guidelines. We can only anticipate that people will be tempted to pack lots of hashtags as possible in a clip’s summary to try to rank higher.

YouTube claimed that it will take down any clips that breach those policies.

The most significant difference with hashtags will be that they’re far more noticeable to this platform’s audiences. Before, if you wished to see a clip’s tags then you needed to see the page’s source code in the browser and it didn’t seem to have a method to do it on mobile.

The platform currently utilizes a comparable technique of arranging clips called tags, which the video uploader includes together with a lot more visible clip title and summary.

Why should you use hashtags on YouTube?

The hashtags are useful in organizing and categorizing videos. They surely aid in content discovery, as well as optimization. When you use them, the video is cataloged so that other users who want to see related videos could view it, even though they aren’t following your feed. In other words, your videos will have higher chances of getting discovered by other people who haven’t seen the video or searching for the hashtag. You’ll get more exposure to your videos.

However, it is best that you don’t use too many hashtags, especially if most of them are irrelevant. You may use 15 hashtags. However, it’s a best practice not to use more than five hashtags. You won’t be doing your video any favors. It’s also ideal that you use them to maximize content interaction.

Hashtags may put your video in front of your target audience. But you must never overuse them. Also, choose them carefully.
