Yahoo Seeks Facebook Lawsuit Settlement
Yahoo! Inc. wants to settle its lawsuit with Facebook, a new court filing from the web company has revealed.
According to Bloomberg, Yahoo lawyers have filed a motion to extend the deadlines for the company and Facebook to file replies to the lawsuit.
This extension is reportedly for Yahoo and Facebook to continue discussions, the report says.
“Lawyers for Yahoo asked U.S. District Judge Jeffrey S. White in San Francisco yesterday for a two-week extension on deadlines to file replies in the lawsuit while the companies hold discussions. The lawyers also asked for a two-week delay in a motion hearing now set for Aug. 10, according to the filing,” Bloomberg reports.
“The parties are currently engaged in settlement negotiations to resolve this dispute. The parties believe that a further extension will facilitate settlement,” Yahoo is quoted as saying in the filing.
The talks between Yahoo and Facebook may ultimately lead to both companies agreeing to either settle or go ahead with battling each other in the courtroom.
