Research and development of intellectual property (IP) has become more global. Yahoo India has garnered a large proportion of Yahoo’s IP development, about 30%. A couple of years back, Yahoo India had only 12% of this development.
Shouvic Mukerjee, CEO and VP of Yahoo India Research and Development, has indicated that they don’t just affect the bottom line anymore, they now make a huge impact. Their domain experience is growing rapidly, because they are now handling complete end-to-end products instead of doing just small pieces of development.
He further said that, since more than 50% of Yahoo’s users are outside of America, Yahoo was in need of branching out its growth markets across the world.
Yahoo India has produced approximately 20 products over the past couple of years. A few examples include a product called Helion, a program that enables multiple site launches in parallel and Yahoo Predict, a way of predicting which advertisement will get the most clicks.
