Facebook is reportedly testing out a “Want” button it could roll out on its site.
The information comes from a report on InsideFacebook which is sourced from developer Tom Waddington.
According to the publication, the developer “discovered that a Want button has been added to the Facebook Javascript SDK as an XFBML tag – <fb:wants>.”
Apparently, the new “Want” button on Facebook would be for Open Graph objects marked as “products.”
Not that this is a totally new thing. It’s reported in the article that developers have been able to implement a “want” action in the past. However, this needed a user to have authorized a third-party app in order to work.
With the new Facebook “Want” button, if ever it gets rolled out, users will not have to authorize an app to “Want” a product, it would just work like the normal “Like” button on Facebook.
Currently, the “Want” button on Facebook is in stealth mode.
