Report suggests that WhatsApp is now showing number of times a message has been forwarded. Apparently, it is a move aimed at fighting against spam, which is one of the biggest challenges facing users of the chat app. Deal with spam and hoax messages, and the app will be one of the best places to have a healthy conversation with friends and loved ones.
Though, I haven’t spotted the feature yet, Matt Navarra posted a screenshot showing information regarding the number of people that have read a particular forwarded message. The feature was spotted being tested earlier in the year, and may now hit a wider audience anytime soon all things being equal.
The feature will also serve as a very important tool for a marketer who may wish to gauge how many people have seen their message. If you are a marketer for example, you may use the tool to find out if your content is going viral or not.

Useful to spot viral content and gauge volume of spread of misinformation or fake news?

WhatsApp has a similar feature when using its “Status” feature—you will be able to know how many of your followers have seen your status. This will enable you to plan or re-strategize when it becomes necessary.
On Tuesday, we told you that a new feature that enables you to add the QR codes of your contacts has been spotted by WABetaInfo. This is expected to be among the app’s beta release for Android, which is still not available for beta testers. The feature was first reported back in May when a QR button was spotted that enabled users to add the QR codes of their contacts.
While other apps like Snapchat, Instagram and LinkedIn already have their own versions, we only got a hint of the feature in WhatsApp last November. Though, not visible yet, WABetaInfo reports that the feature is one for the future, which as you already know could take a while considering how long it takes WhatsApp to officially make new changes available to users.
A new screenshot appears to be showing a QR Code shortcut where you can scan and share. You will be able to scan and share QR codes by tapping the dedicated shortcut.
The QR Code shortcut as with other features still being tested by WhatsApp, may not hit your phone anytime soon considering how slow the app is when it comes to releasing new features.
WhatsApp Status; a Stories-like feature launched by the Facebook-owned messaging app over two years ago will soon welcome a new function. Apparently, this is one of many ways the owners of the app think will make the feature more popular among users. You will soon be able to share your Status to Facebook and other apps once the feature has been rolled out.
The feature was spotted and reported by WABetaInfo a couple of months ago. Users that have signed up with the WhatsApp beta program will start seeing a new sharing option underneath their status. The new sharing option will let you share or post a status directly to your Facebook story or send it to another app like Google Photos, Instagram or Instagram.
