Vimeo’s “Publish to Social” feature has now been extended to enable direct video publishing to LinkedIn. The feature is already enabled for Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube—and LinkedIn becomes the latest online platform to embrace it.
Vimeo announced the availability of the feature today in a blog post where it said users can now publish their videos directly on LinkedIn. This takes the video company one step further where people can now begin to view it as a platform that sells tools to video creators.
By so doing, Vimeo becomes the first video company to integrate with LinkedIn, which is a big move. Microsoft had announced that LinkedIn, which it acquired in 2016 would open to video uploads as part of a bigger video expansion.
“Our Publish to Social feature makes it possible for creators and businesses to reach audiences in more places, while also enabling them to better understand video performance,” said Mark Kornfilt, CTO of Vimeo. “We’re excited to be the first video platform to integrate with LinkedIn, and to extend this feature to an essential destination for professional content.”
Big players in the industry—Twitter and Facebook are already going in big on video, and LinkedIn is being presented an opportunity to expand what was it started sometimes last year.
“Video has become one of the key drivers for member engagement on LinkedIn, and businesses who want to start a conversation with their audiences are increasingly turning to Company Page videos,” said Peter Roybal, principal product manager at LinkedIn. “Our new integration with Vimeo is an exciting step for anyone who wants to gain more exposure, and understand their reach to LinkedIn’s highly-engaged professional audiences.”

- Wider reach—publishers now have the opportunity to extend their video rich when they publish directly to LinkedIn, which is the largest professional social media group in the world with over 400 million users.
- Direct video distribution—Vimeo users can now directly distribute their videos directly from Vimeo with one click all over the web, which also includes their LinkedIn Company Page, websites and other social destinations.
- Access to all video analytics from LinkedIn—creators can access all of their video analytics from LinkedIn and other social media platforms, right from the Vimeo stats dashboard.
The feature is immediately available to all paid Vimeo subscribers who now have additional reason to keep creating and publishing quality content to the video platform as well as LinkedIn.
