Verizon, owner of the largest telecoms carrier in the U.S., aims to integrate CloudSwitch with IT services provider and company subsidiary Terremark.

CloudSwitch allows the easy handling of apps and workloads in the cloud on organizations created for business ventures, which could help companies switch to Terremark services.

The combination will create services for developing total enterprise-class cloud solutions (private-to-public, public-to-public and hybrid) worldwide.

Verizon’s acquisition of CloudSwitch and Terremark guarantees clients better management and security of services between both companies.

Bob Toohey, global enterprise unit president at Verizon, said that the company considers the cloud as a “rapidly growing opportunity.”

CloudSwitch CEO John McEleney stated that jumping onboard Verizon would help create “a solution that combines our software with the market-leading infrastructure cloud play.”

In January 2009, CloudSwitch raised funds from investors that reached $7.4 million and another $8 million in June that year.
