Dom Sagolla, a digital expert and a pioneer of the microblogging network Twitter, has nothing but praise for the support given by Abu Dhabi to the social media industry. Sagolla, who also happens to be an entrepreneur, speaks well of the emirate, for being up to date with the latest in digital technology, particularly when it comes to social media.

Social Media Growth in the UAE

Earlier this month, Sagolla met Noura Al Ka’abi, who is the CEO of the Media Zone Authority – Abu Dhabi and twofour54. In particular, the two talked about the impressive growth of social media across the United Arab Emirates, as well as future trends in the industry.

According to Sagolla, because of twofour54’s initiatives, Abu Dhabi has truly “embraced the social media sphere.” He is also looking forward to coming back to the emirate, where growth and opportunities are ripe.

Twitter Users on the Rise
Aside from citing the importance of Sagolla’s visit to the emirate, Al Ka’abi also points out that the number of Twitter users are definitely on the rise. The CEO stated that since the Internet began, the microblogging site is “set to become the most commonly used” platform, as the number of Twitter users in the UAE is now 305,000.

In addition, Al Ka’abi explains that social media has now become “essential” to a person’s creative process. It provides those in the public relations, media, and journalism industries with new ways of sharing information and connecting with their audience.
