Before social media marketing, people look for content through newspapers. But the current state of social media marketing still uses some of the native behaviour. Then, again self-promotional is still a no-no in marketing your brand on social media.

Tips on How to Make Social Media Marketing Content on Twitter be Newsworthy

Companies should update their content awareness messaging on social media to make it more like a newsfeed, rather than a promotional feed.

As you make your social media marketing content more newsworthy, your followers are more likely to read, act and count on your content, especially your new followers. In other words, you should think more of the news, instead of focusing on the features and benefits of your products and services.

If you’re using Twitter to market your brand, how can you make your content marketing more of a newsworthy?

Make your headlines short

When making a headline on Twitter, make sure that it’s between 70 and 100 characters. To better capture your reader’s attention, use capitalised headlines. In a recent survey, Twitter users read news through their timelines while others browse the timelines of others. By using this information, you can say that it’s really all about the headline that makes people read your post.

Use facts and lists

In addition to making shorter headlines, you need to make your audience’s life a little better by providing them with facts and lists. By having an informative approach on how you communicate with your audience, you’ll surely build a long-term relationship with them in no time. Since more than 50 percent of Twitter users said that they obtain news more today than before they have joined the service. This only indicates that Twitter users are using the social networking site to read the news.

Include photos

Yes, a picture is still worth a thousand words on Twitter. When you do add images, make sure that they’re custom-made or newsworthy graphic. These can help in breaking through the clutter while they can capture the hearts and minds of your readers. Most importantly, they can capture their eyes.

Have a call to action

Although it’s necessary that you deliver the news, you should, however, make it clear to your audience the next step they’re going to make. That is, they must learn more by providing them with a button stating “read more” or something similar.

Improve user experience

When you do include a CTA, make sure that the link to that tweet is an informative landing page that’s also related to the tweet with the link. Ensure that your blog post fits the headline of your tweet. See to it that the overall user experience offers a story that supports the headline of your tweet.

If you’re using Twitter for your social media marketing campaign, make sure that you’re not sending your audience an embarrassing tweet. That is, if you don’t want others to hear or see it, don’t tweet it. Just imagine how disastrous would it be if you tweeted a message meant to be seen and read by one friend or a business associate but you ended up blasting it to thousands of your followers.
