When a social media campaign is done right, more leads and publicity are generated for a business.
In fact, 52 percent more leads were generated when marketers spent six or more hours a week engaging on social media compared to those who spent less time, this infographic suggests.
Furthermore, 1 out of 3 companies say that Facebook is essential to their business. That is for both business to consumer and business to business ventures, the infographic says.
Additionally, 80 percent of marketers say social content has been a primary factor in generating chatter and exposure for their businesses while 46 percent of people who use the internet say they count on social media to inform their decision before purchasing something from a company.
It should therefore make sense that businesses which want to grow even in a competitive market should also focus on developing a successful social media campaign.
Social media platforms offer a multitude of people as audiences and potential customers.
At the very least, the infographic says that there are this many people on the various popular social media platforms out there: 700 million on Facebook, 343 million on Google+, 288 million on Twitter, 200 million on LinkedIn and 48.7 million on Pinterest. If one asks us on SocialBarrel, those estimates are still conservative.
The point, however, is that there are a lot of people who use the internet and who are frequently on social media.
The first step, as suggested by the infographic from Cox Blue, is to know your audience.
For example, it’s great to know your demographics and what they do on social media. According to this infographic, 48 percent of women check out a brand’s social page regularly while 43 percent of men do the same.

For example, if you are looking for a broad appeal, Facebook should be the social media platform that is first on your list. For those who have an audience that is more corporate and professional, LinkedIn should be the first social media platform to make an account on. For those who want to sell products to women, Pinterest is the way to go especially if you want to showcase your products and the customers who are using them.
