Most of us can’t get out from our houses without bringing our phone, tablet or laptop. I’ll be honest. I can relate to this. Most of the times I bring with me my laptop simply for work purposes. Gadgets have always been a part of our lives. And when there is a need to buy one, I make sure that I won’t regret spending money on the gadget that I don’t like to use.
So, before having regrets later on, here are some things to consider before buying a new laptop.
1. Longer battery life
This is the most important factor in buying a laptop. Brand new batteries usually last for around 3-5 hours. Some manufacturers even offers a juice up to 12 hours. Although battery life really decrease in the long run but it is still important that your laptop have that extra power. So, before buying a laptop online, make sure that is still last for about 3-4 hours. Your laptop will really be useless if you are away from the power supply.
2. It should have SSD
If you are looking for high performance, then a laptop with SSD should be your choice. Solid State Drive (SSD) is the counterpart of Hard Disk Drive (HDD). Though SSD comes at a high price and with less storage yet it is worth it when it comes to performance and faster bootup. Anyway, we always have those cloud storage for our files. Another great advantage with SSD is that it generates less heat and consumes less power which is really beneficial for your laptops. Just a tip, HDD makes windows 10 like you’re in a prehistoric era.
3. It should have backlit keys
Others may not have encountered this feature yet, but it is really awesome. This feature is really useful when working in dim lighted areas. So if you are fond working with less light then you buy a laptop with backlit keys. You will surely enjoy this feature.
4. Test the keyboard and touchpad
Before closing that deal, make sure you have tested the hardware components of your laptop especially the keyboard and touchpad.
Most of us usually neglect this, but it is very essential that you check first if those keys are really working well. I can still remember when we bought a PC and two keys got interchange. We ended up guessing where the # key is (this is common if you buy your laptop abroad).
Also check the touchpad as well as the right and left keys. If the touchpad is scrolling weird or unresponsive then don’t buy that laptop. Of course you can always buy a mouse, but it will be an additional cost.
5. Charger is working well
Another thing, make sure that the charger is working well. This is not common but I’ll include this because it’ll save you gas and effort in returning a defective charger on the store. Also don’t forget that your charger has the right voltage and amperes. The last thing that you want to happen is destroying your laptop.
There you have it! These are just some of the basic components that you should consider. It is still very important that you check the whole features and usability of the laptop that you are buying.
