Telegram has reinvented its main app, Telegram. On Wednesday, owners of one of the most popular messaging app Telegram, announced the launch of a parallel messaging app it calls Telegram X.
So, why did the developers of the app choose to launch a new messaging platform when the first one seems to be doing not quite badly? As the company puts it in a blog post, its action was inspired by the need to “explore new in frontiers speed, ease of use, quality of animations and all other aspects.”
As if those were not already significant part of its popular messaging app; the company believes that Telegram X allows it to “test new approaches and technologies.”
Though, still being experimented, the company allayed fears that the new app is about to replace the old one—though, it offered no guarantee that such won’t be the case. In other words, the possibility of Telegram X replacing the main app cannot be ruled out altogether.
One of the major concerns for people using messaging apps like Messenger, WhatsApp, iMessage and Telegram is, how fast their battery drains when chatting. Apparently, the developers of Telegram X took this issue into consideration when developing this app, and are therefore promising more battery efficiency.
If the developers get the battery issue right, then it would be a massive breakthrough for a lot of users. It’s one of the things I want to consider before adding or installing another messaging app on my phone. I am already battling hard with accepting the idea of adding another potential battery-draining app on my phone. Maybe, just maybe I could just give it a shot and see if Telegram X will be the different from other messaging app.
The developers are also touting speed, sleek new design different from the main app as some of the reasons to use Telegram X—and there’s even more…
Telegram X is currently available on the Play Store for Android users, while iOS users may have to wait for a little while due to recent development that bothers on content.
Earlier today, we brought you a report that both Telegram and Telegram X were taken off the App Store over issues bothering on “inappropriate content.”
It is not clear what the exact content was that led to the removal of the two apps from the App Store. However, new users can only wish that this doesn’t take too long.
Telegram recently had its services restored after it was suspended by authorities in Iran. The ban came amidst strong resistance in Iran where millions of people took to the streets to protest. Not quite of a surprise that as the action drew reaction from the US government.
The Iranian government hinged its decision to block the messaging apps on security. According to state-run media, the move was encouraged by the need to “maintain tranquility and security of society.”
