The next update for Microsoft’s mobile operating system, Windows Phone, is coming really soon, and more information from various sources and reports leaks several specifications to expect from the software such as its official release name.
The codename Tango has appeared several times among media channels, but Stefania Duico, Head of Windows Phone Italy, begs to differ, saying the official name for its upcoming update will be Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh.
The clarification is thoroughgoing, as the update will not only bring new features to current handsets, but include backward compatibility for low-end Windows Phone devices.
Microsoft released Windows Phone 7 codenamed Metro, and then comes Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, followed by Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh (codenamed Tango), with the next release likely to bear the tag Apollo as Windows Phone 8.
Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh is an update that will hit all WP devices and add fixes and new features to existing handsets.
Low-end handsets will offer modified user experiences due to less usage of memory hog activities such as Live Tiles and multitasking.
