According to the report, “a 31-year-old man in Ängelholm in western Sweden” was detained by Swedish police after they discovered his crafty but dangerous science project.

The publication says that the unnamed man started his project about six months ago and got radioactive material from abroad and by “taking apart a domestic fire alarm”. He has reportedly spent a total of about $950 for his project.

Furthermore, the man is said to have also been “open” about his venture and even kept a blog about his project.

However, he was caught because of his own doing after he reportedly placed a call to the Swedish Radiation Authority asking if there were any laws prohibiting building a nuclear reactor in a private home.

He has since been released, the report says, vowing to discontinue his work.
