US telecoms carrier Sprint Nextel will offer unlimited data plans for its Apple iPhone 5 offering on October to set apart from major rivals AT&T and Verizon Wireless, Bloomberg cited knowledgeable sources.

According to the sources, Sprint would sell Apple’s next generation model handset simply called as the iPhone 5 by the middle of next month.

With a new unlimited data plan, Sprint will be able to draw subscribers away from competitors who also offer the iPhone, the sources added.

Kansas-based Sprint Nextel has not met expectations for almost four years in a row now and has given up ground against AT&T and Verizon Wireless.

AT&T currently offers an unlimited monthly voice service for $69.99 and $15 for 200 MB capped data, 2 GB for $25, or 4 GB for $45 per month.

Verizon Wireless’ existing iPhone monthly plans spans from $30 for 2 GB of data to $80 for 10 GB of data, all of which are on top of an unlimited monthly voice service at $69.99.

Meanwhile, Sprint’s service plan will feature unlimited data and voice at $99.99 per month compared to its rivals’ extra charge for a data service.
