Sony, now, has the most popular mirrorless camera on the market. The new Alpha NEX-5R improves an old dedicated recipe and now brings support for photo transfer via WiFi. The16.1 MP APS-C sensor has the same resolution as the previous model, but it is a new one. With it, in this model is introduced a new feature called Fast Hybrid AF.
Until now, the lack of a mirror and prism, the phase detection sensor was missing. The focus was a little slow, through contrast difference. The new Sony NEX-5R has an array of 99 points for phase detection over the sensor that works with a contrast difference algorithm.
The wireless module from Sony NEX-5R is used to transfer images from the camera card to a smartphone with Android or iOS. The manufacturer introduced the PlayMemories Camera Apps platform, the first for a mirrorless camera. Beside the Direct Upload application, which lets you connect your device to your mobile phone, it will also be available in the device the following applications: Picture Effect + Pro Bracket, Multi Frame NR, Photo Retouch and Smart Remote Control. The last application enables the camera control using a mobile device. In addition, also with the use of the WiFi module, files can be sent to an LCD TV with DLNA support.
The Sony NEX series stood out from the beginning with a limited number of buttons. This time, it seems that the manufacturer listen to the requirements from more advanced users and put customizable buttons and a scroll wheel to adjust image parameters. The 3 inch screen with a high-resolution is sensible and it can be folded vertically. The device weighs 276 g with the battery in it and will be available in three colors, in October. The price for the body of Sony NEX-5R will be $ 650. Along with the 18-55 mm objective, it will cost $ 750.
