It seems Snapchat is unperturbed by recent cloning of its features by Facebook. The company is stepping up the game and is putting on its thinking cap. With the launch of Bitmoji Widgets, you can now instantly chat with your favorite friends.
Here is how it works: Instead of unearthing your chat thread on Snapchat, you can now select your favorite friends, create Bitmoji Widget for them with their personalized avatars, and click them from their iOS Today screen or Android home screen to start chatting with them, TechCrunch reports.
How to add Bitmoji Widget on iOS: Simply swipe right from your home screen to the Today screen where your existing widgets are currently located. To edit it, you will have to scroll down, add Snapchat, and your “Snapchat Best Friends” that have already created their personalized Bitmoji avatars will appear automatically as widgets on the home screen. You can initiate or launch a chat with your friends by simply tapping on the Widgets.
How to add Bitmoji Widgets on Android: Simply tap and hold on an empty part of your home page, select Widgets, choose Snapchat, and choose up to four of your friends to make in home screen Widgets.
Snapchat’s Bitmoji Widgets rolled out to iOS and Android users today—and will serve as a strong statement of intent on the part of the company despite stiff competition from Facebook.
Snapchat began sales of its highly publicized video-recording sunglasses Spectacles online in the US for a reported fee of $129.99 last February. Before the company announced the online sales, the spectacles dispensed through Snapbot vending machines in select locations and New York pop-up store in the last couple of months.
Shipment, according to Snapchat, will take up to two to four weeks to get to their destinations. Each household will be limited to 6 pairs of the highly fashionable sunglasses. Customers can also now buy $49.99 charging cases and $9.99 charging cords from the company. What this means is that they will no longer be available on Amazon.
Snapchat filed for an IPO in February, and will now use the Sunglasses as an avenue to gain the sympathy of the public. As a matter of fact, making the glasses available online will recreate the kind of buzz that greeted the initial release in September.
Despite mounting competition from Facebook, Snapchat is not relenting, and continues to introduce highly innovative features and products to keep its business running and ahead of competitors.
