Correcting a negative impression during calls—especially when using Skype to make video calls can be very difficult. Sometimes you get carried away; forgetting to put your room in order before initiating a video call. The good thing is that Skype has noticed this and has now launched a new feature to blur your messy room during video calls.
“There are plenty of life’s moments that can get in the way of you being the focus in every video call—and that’s why we’re introducing background blur in Skype video calls,” Skype said in a blog post.
The feature will be able to blur the background while on a video call with your contacts on Skype. Background blur is similar to what is available in Microsoft Teams. It allows you to concentrate on your calls without worrying whether your room is in a bad shape. All you need to do is to toggle, then right-click, or even go through your Skype settings to instantly and subtly blur your background.
Background blur in Skype uses artificial intelligence to keep you in focus during video calls. It has been trained to detect your hair, hands, and arms, which enables you to make a call with background blur in a more relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. The feature does not interfere with the usual process associated with making Skype video calls.
Background blur for Skype is available on desktop, the web and mobile; but you need the latest version of the app/software to start using it.
Microsoft recently announced an improved video call experience for Skype Insiders. Version 18.104.22.168 now comes with a clearer and improved video call with minimal distractions. You can now dismiss all of the call controls by tapping once on the video when next you are on a video call. When you want controls, you can bring them back by simply tapping once again.
Making video calls on Skype on mobile will now be almost as perfect as what is obtainable on either desktop or laptop. What that means is that there will now be minimal distraction due to the improved video calling feature.
All the important features required to make quality video calls without distraction have now been placed right in front and center. As a matter of fact, everything is just a simple tab away with the new update. The redesigned menu comes with important features like call recording and subtitles, which makes video call simple and without clutter.
The update places the speaker and audio device button in the upper right, next to your own video. This makes it easy for one handed audio device switching while on the go. The video preview has also been updated—it is now bigger in one-to-one video calls, which enables you to see yourself better—most importantly on larger screened mobile device.
