Skype has added the ability to share photos through its iOS app for iPhones and iPads.
The new Photo Sharing feature makes it easier to send images with a simple tap of the ‘add’ symbol in the right hand corner of an open chat screen. Choose a photo from the camera or photo stream and it will automatically send the file to a particular contact after authorization.
“Today, with updates to both apps, we are introducing a frequently requested feature: Photo Sharing for iOS,” Skype said in a blog post.
“This new feature will let you send photos you’ve shot on your iPad or iPhone directly to friends or family members via Skype.”
It does not have a size limit on images to avoid additional charges from MMS rates. It is also faster than Apple’s iMessage app at sending messages.
Skype 4.1 for iOS actually offers more, as the VoIP leader included several performance improvements to its iOS app. According to the Microsoft-owned software company, Skype for iOS now consumes less power when running in the background. It also loads faster than previous versions.
Skype for iPhone and iPad 4.1 is now available for free from the Apple App Store.
