Join The Heard has announced that SixString, the first social networking app for guitarists, now is a featured app in the Social Network category of the Apple iTunes Store.
Released on December last year, the iOS mobile application now comes with in-app video recording and sharing for guitarists to capture and share music, gear, and tones with the rapidly growing SixString community.
Guitarist Gary Hoey, a surfer-rock musician with 18 recorded albums and had five hits on Billboard’s Top 20 list, says SixString is an easy to use iPhone app for quick sound recording. He uses it to record and playback sounds from his vintage pedals, some of which are available on the app.
Specifically designed for guitar players, SixString provides a wide range of tools for all guitar-related activities in software form, adds Damian Hagger, cofounder of SixString. It helps amateur guitarists to learn and play how Eddie Van Halen reached his brown sound or how The Edge applies delay.
Hagger says the app promotes the work of professional guitarists by sharing sound clips, and it allows collectors to store and share vintage gear by uploading images or videos.
SixString allows users to (1) rapidly record up to 45 seconds of HD sound or 15 seconds of video highlighting skills, gear, and tones, (2) capture and share interesting photos of guitars, pedals, and amps, (3) share with friends on social networks Facebook and Twitter in one click, (4) find favorite guitarists, become a fan, and receive all their updates, (5) get applauds on posts and see them jump in the charts, (6) ask questions to the community, and (7) comment on posts. It is free to download, install, and use.
Guitar players can share their audio and video clips, photos, gear, and send messages to a community full of guitar enthusiasts with a mere click of the “Play” button in the app.
Taking advantage of the iPhone’s built-in features, SixString users can record music, take photos and share them without uploading MP3s or carrying around other recording devices.
SixString, the Los Angeles, Calif.-based division of Join The Heard, is the first social network app designed for guitarists.
The SixString iOS app is available to download and use by clicking here. It is compatible with the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd, 4th and 5th generations) and iPad, but it requires iOS 5.1 or later and optimized for the iPhone 5.
