#1 Focus on those places where people are showing interest in your product

This involves research, and is not one to be done overnight—it could take weeks or even months of careful study and analysis. Aside from Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, you could dabble into other social media platforms like Snapchat, LinkedIn and Pinterest. Pay attention to what people are saying about you or your products in those platforms, and work out modalities on how to effectively make things work.

#2 Discover/find out influencers in your industry

The basic problem most starters face is the fear that there might not be enough people interested in talking about their products or industry. This is far from being true, and can only be corrected by identifying those primary influencers in your industry. When you find them [influencers], try to find out what they are talking about.

#3 Pay close attention to social selling opportunities

As a social media marketer, it is important that you pay attention to information such as when someone is interested in buying a particular product related to what your sales team is selling. Tweets or posts complaining about your products should also not be ignored.

#4 Pay attention to specific keywords indirectly linked to your product/brand

While people may not make direct mention of your product/name/brand, they may all the same be referring to you. So, it is important to have a library of keywords or phrases that indirectly refer to your product/name/brand.

#5 Organize your Mentions into different categories

For quick response to sales requests and issues, it is important to organize your Mentions by categories. Growth is expected—and attending to sales requests or enquiries will increase once people start to follow you on the social media. To help make things easier, simply move content to different categories that you have created.

#6 Pay attention to available data

Social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook provide access to important data that marketers will find very useful. You can go to your dashboard on Facebook or even Twitter to analyze your current status, comparing it with previous month’s growth. This will help you identify those areas where you need to pay extra attention to.
