Few days after announcing the integration of SoundCloud into its app, Instagram users can now also share songs they have ID’d with Shazam. Just like SoundCloud and Spotify, this also will be integrated into Instagram’s popular feature called Stories.
“Now you can share your Shazams to Instagram Stories. Once you’ve found a song in Shazam, hit the share button and choose Instagram Stories,” a short post on iTunes explained about the new update.
Here is how it works—and it is very easy—Shazam a song, tap to share the result, and you will now have among existing options, an Instagram button that lets you share in the media list. The album cover art will be share to your Instagram Story with a newly added button with a caption that reads “More on Shazam.” This button, according to The Inquirer, will redirect you to the song page within the Shazam app.
There is no info on whether not this new feature will be available for Android users, but iOS users can download the latest version of Shazam to start using it.
Both sides [Shazam and Instagram] are set to benefit from this new update. Shazam for once was recently acquired by Apple, and will become even more popular with this latest update. Instagram on its part, with its version of Stories dominating Snapchat’s version,
Instagram, which is already getting ahead of Snapchat in terms of usage by teens according to latest stats, will no doubt continue to dominate in years to come. Its Stories feature is already attracting millions of daily use, and the new SoundCloud integration will further boost the feature [Stories].
This past September, The European Union gave its final nod to Apple to acquire Shazam. The approval came after the EU’s investigation which convinced the antitrust body that the acquisition will in no way harm competition.
SoundCloud integration into Instagram Stories will let fans and artists to promote their music through the feature. The caveat here is that users will not be able to actually share their music via Instagram as the tracks can only be shared as links that appear within Stories.
SoundCloud integration also makes it possible for your fans and followers to listen to your song and offer their feedback. So, what you get in the end is actually more than just a big coverage, you also get to hear people comment on your song.
