Samsung Will Compete Facebook With Its Own Social Network. (Image via Bussines Insider)
Samsung hopes to take a place among the heavyweights of social networking and aims very high, trying to offer its own alternative to the Facebook network.
Currently, Samsung already has in its portfolio a social service called Family Story, which allows image distribution, chat sessions between users and the possibility to create alerts displayed on certain Samsung devices.
The team working on the “Samsung Facebook” project hopes to develop a more polished and complete version of the Family Story network, which will later arrive to the public before the end of this year.
The new social network will be available initially only on Samsung devices (Smart TV, mobile phones, tablets, etc.), and later to enter on third-party operating systems and devices.
Samsung officials have expressed confidence in the new social service and its ability to gain popularity worldwide. Unfortunately, Samsung has not yet revealed the name chosen for the network that will compete with Facebook. We find however that the future social network will have support from servers scattered in several countries, located in key regions of the planet. Even if this requires significant financial resources, the effort doesn’t seem to intimidate a company like Samsung.
It remains to be seen whether the South Korean giant’s ambitions will bear the fruits it hoped for, providing a capable competitor to Facebook.
