Samsung on Thursday threw its hat into ring by joining the prestigious group of companies making gaming PCs. This year’s CES has followed a particular trend—with gaming laptops gaming prominence, and Samsung does not want to be left out. Called Odyssey, the new gaming PC from the South Korean tech giant is Samsung’s answer to Lenovo’s Legion.

The Odyssey is a 15-inch laptop that will be launched into the market in February, while the 17-inch giant size will hit the market later in April. The 15-inch comes with a red-backlit keyboard, while the higher-end model laptop features a multicolored keyboard.

The Samsung Notebook Odyssey was designed specifically with gamers in mind and is equipped with exclusive features to offer users one of the best gaming notebook available on the market, said YoungGyoo Choi, Senior Vice President of the PC Business Team, Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics. “Today, serious and even casual gamers seek computing devices that not only pack power for intense graphics-rich games but also feature a stylish and portable design. We’re excited to expand our PC portfolio with a premium gaming solution featuring refinements in design, cutting-edge technology and enhanced gaming usability.”

The Odyssey comes with exclusive features designed for both intense and casual gamers. To ensure the laptop remains cool when playing for a long period, Samsung included advanced technology, including HexaFlow Vent—an advanced cooling ventilation system. The HexaFlow Vent is located on the bottom panel of the device, and can be opened in case you wish to upgrade the storage or memory. This is a big boost to intense gamers who want to maximize the performance of the device.

Samsung Odyssey is equipped with a robust processor powered by an Intel Core i7 [Quad Core 45W]. whichever one you choose, both the 15-inch and 17-inch laptops offer you lightning fast performance with super-quality graphic technology to go with.

The Samsung 17-inch Odyssey offers you an amazing viewing experience including a backlight up to 300 nits in brightness for crystal clear images. To minimize reflection, the device features an anti-glare surface treatment; this means you can focus on your next move without being distracted.

The Samsung Odyssey also features p2p sharing functionality that allows you to share files, messages and photos with others. You can share files anytime and anywhere with other devices such smartphones.

Perhaps, what some users could see or point to as the downside of the Odyssey is the glossy plastic surround that sits on either side of the touchpad. The glossy plastic according to The Verge, highlighted by LED lighting.

The price is quite appealing in my opinion; starting at $1,199 for the smaller laptop, equipped with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050—gamers are unlikely to be intimidated when it comes to buying any of the two Samsung Odyssey laptops soon to hit the market.
