Figure, a smartphone mobile app by Propellerhead, is one among the latest set of apps that allow you to create music easily by combining various tones.
Figure’s interface is a simple and blocky one, and it looks aesthetically pleasing on an iPhone. With this, Propellerhead app’s offers easy functionality; even the novice mobile device user with no professional music background can combine lead synth, bass synth and drums to create amazing and fun beats.
The average user can enjoy the vast amount of presets that he can enjoy.
However, this app is not just for the musical commoner in mind, as it is also very sophisticated for the pleasure of those who are keener on tweaking attributes such as distortion, waveform, filter and pitch.
Duncan Geere, of wired.com, says that it is a very engaging mobile app; that you can be riding a bus and be too immersed in the application that you’ll miss your bus stop by a couple of minutes. However, Duncan adds that it would be nice to have a kind of sequencer that increases the recording duration.
Ernst Nathorst Böös, CEO of Propellerhead, said that musicians of all levels would have smartphones, computers and tablets that they will use for various situations. This new music app is also very affordable, at 69p, and consequently, the company hopes it will pick up mainstream influence and become huge for the music industry in general.
