Promoted Tweets on Google Real-time Search Results
Google and Twitter may have a very interesting year in 2011. There are continuing talks among market watchers, currently rumor, that Google may acquire Twitter. A new campaign between Google and Twitter fuels the rumor mill even more.
They both want to advance their companies in that Twitter needs a monetary influx and Google would like to enter into the social networking sector. They will be working together by integrating Twitter promotional ads into Google’s real-time search results. Promoted Tweets will be used to get the company into online advertising, possibly allowing Twitter to show a profit.
This campaign is targeted toward advertisers, such as Starbucks, who will pay about $100,000 to market their products on Twitter.
As to the acquisition of Twitter, Google may not want to pay a substantial sum of money to buy the social network since it is not currently turning a profit. Twitter, on the other hand, has given the impression that they want to stay independent and remain autonomous regardless of any acquisition.
