A new study has revealed that in the booming market for smartphones, over 80 percent of owners of these devices do not have any security-related products installed on their devices.

The new study was done by NPD and says further that one in every four smartphone owners do not have any idea how to install security-related smartphone software.
The news comes after an August report from security firm Lookout Mobile Security warned that malware targeting Android devices (now with the largest share of the smartphone market in many regions including the U.S.) has increased.
The Lookout Mobile Security report said then that Android smartphone owners are 2.5 times more likely to be infected with malware compared to levels six months before the report went out.
However, according to NPD, 83 percent of the respondents of the study did say that they will install security software on their smartphones if malware infects their smartphone.
