Nokia and Namco Bandai Games has released this week 22 classic retro arcade games for the Asha Touch phones range.
The news about the newly available retro games from Namco Bandai comes as Nokia also recently passed the 5 billion downloads milestone with its Nokia Store.
Headlining the 22 retro games for the Nokia Asha Touch range are PAC-MANR and Final Fantasy while the following classic Namco Bandai games are also available on the Nokia Store:
- SOULCALIBURR
- ACE COMBAT NORTHERN WINGS(TM)
- RIDGE RACERR Drift
- BRAIN EXERCISE(TM) with Dr. Kawashima
- GALAGAR Special Edition
According to the Finnish phones maker, the games will be priced between $ 0.99 and $2.99. Furthermore, users of the Nokia Asha Touch range will be able to able to purchase titles without the need for a credit card – unlike with the Google Play store or Apple’s App Store – owing to the fact that Nokia has an extensive direct billing agreements with over 145 operators worldwide.
Included in the Nokia Asha Touch range are the Asha 311, Asha 306 and Asha 305.
The Nokia Asha 311 is powered by a 1GHz processor, 128MB RAM and 256MB ROM expandable with up to 32GB MicroSD card. The Asha 311 features a 3-inch capacitive touch screen protected by Gorilla Glass and a 3.15MP camera at the back. The phone is 3.5G capable.
The Nokia Asha 305 and Nokia Asha 306 are essentially the same phones save for the Asha 305 being a dual-SIM unit while the Asha 306 capable of accepting only one SIM but makes up for it with Wi-Fi connectivity. They feature the same 3-inch touchscreen of the Asha 311 and the Asha 306 is billed as the most affordable Wi-Fi phone of Nokia to date.

Nokia also revealed that to date, 411 Nokia developers have apps which have passed 1 million download while three developers – namely India Games, Pico Brothers and Inode – all have driven more than 100 million download on their Nokia Store.
With the launch of these 22 retro games from the selection of classic games from Namco Bandai, Nokia is aiming for the Asha Touch range to entice more budget-conscious phone shoppers.
