The A5X chip powering the latest and greatest tablet from Apple may not find its way to the next-generation iPhone in the future, a new report suggests.
After Apple on Wednesday unveiled the iPad 3 powered by the improved and more powerful A5X, many were wondering if the new chip from Apple will incorporate the processor to the next iPhone.
However, a report from Macworld says that analysts are on the opinion that the A5X is not headed to the next iPhone.
The report cites the A4 and the A5 chips which found their way to the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S after they first debuted on the original iPad and the iPad 2.
However, Macworld says that analysts are saying that the A5X may have been tailored for use on tablets only.
The A5X is more powerful than the A5 but it also is assumed to consume more power than its predecessor making it a bad fit for the iPhone which has a smaller battery than the iPad 3.
