After Microsoft announced that it would kill off MS Paint, the fans of the said feature could not hide their frustrations. The outpouring of love for this Windows program couldn’t be ignored.

Thus, Microsoft decided to save it. Although it won’t be a part of Windows OS, users can access it on Windows Store.

In a blog post:

“Today, we’ve seen an incredible outpouring of support and nostalgia around MS Paint. If there’s anything we learned, it’s that after 32 years, MS Paint has a lot of fans. It’s been amazing to see so much love for our trusty old app. Amidst today’s commentary around MS Paint we wanted to take this opportunity to set the record straight, clear up some confusion and share some good news MS Paint is here to stay, it will just have a new home soon, in the Windows Store where it will be available for free.” – Megan Saunders, General Manager, 3D for Everyone Initiative

But Saunders is still pushing Paint 3D that would come with Windows 10 Creators Update. The said feature would also be in Windows Store and Microsoft.

It’s good to know that Microsoft listened to its users by not killing the 32-year-old Windows program. But because MS Paint will no longer be a default core part of Windows, it may not be the same.

That means you can’t install it by default with Windows. If your administrator doesn’t allow employees to install any apps from the Windows Store, you can no longer take advantage of this useful tool.

Home users, on the other hand, can easily download it for free from the Windows Store. But office workers are deprived of their creative sessions once Microsoft would severe MS Paint from Windows as a standard program.

As Microsoft wants to move forward, Paint 3D will be a core part of the current and future versions of Windows. The company unveiled the drawing app last year. It stated that it comes with MS Paint’s primary functions.

We’re not sure whether the company did plan to bring the favorite feature back to Windows Store. But one thing is for sure here is that it saved the company from what could have been an embarrassing decision. Microsoft must realize now that PC users don’t like their tools to be messed with.

What is Paint 3D?

Microsoft described it as an easy-to-use tool if you wish to create 3D models. It allows the creation of multiple 3D models that you can share with your friends.

It comes with advanced features. For instance, you can export scenes to .FBX or .3MF files. In this way, you can work on them using other apps. Furthermore, it allows you to import .FBX or .3MF files that you created through other applications. You can also print the scenes using the 3D builder application.

During the Creators Update launch event, the company said that users could export 3D models from Minecraft. Furthermore, you can use your smartphone to capture 3D objects in the real world. Then, you can import those objects to Paint 3D.
