Fumbling with your phone and consequently paying more attention to it while out to dine may not be very nice; but according to a new study, more and more people nowadays bring out their mobile gadgets, mostly their smartphones, to take pictures of meals and share them on the social networking sites, and more so, use them to update their Facebook statuses.
An infographic by Lab42, a market research firm that obtains respondents to their surveys through social media, states that around 19% of people who use their smartphones while in a restaurant update their Facebook status. On the other hand, about 24% say they take pictures of their food, and 18% check-in to a restaurant using Foursquare.
It does not surprise us anymore that 20% of smartphone users make their dining plans with other people through the phone, and 19% of them use their mobile devices to find restaurants situated nearby that appeal to their tastes. The report also says that people who bring out their smartphones while they are eating out do so to see a food or drink menu on the Internet and find it.
The report also notes that around 95% of the respondents use their smartphones prior to dining out.
