Apple rivals are expecting and waiting for iPhone 4S popularity to come down
Major manufacturers of smart phones in the world, including Samsung, HTC, Nokia and LG, in recent time have been slow in releasing their new devices and will probably bring them to the market in the second quarter of 2012. This was reported, citing sources from the component suppliers of smartphones, by the Taiwanese trade publication DigiTimes. It is noted that Apple rivals are waiting for iPhone 4S demand to subside, as they do not wish to enter into direct competition with the gadget, whose popularity is now at its peak.
Owing to unprecedented success of iPhone 4S, in the 4th quarter of 2011 Apple has become the largest supplier of smartphones, and its share of global smartphone market has reached 23.9% (according to data from Strategy Analytics). Based on past experience, it is expected that high demand for the latest version of recently released smartphone from Apple will continue throughout the 1st quarter of 2012, and then will begin to decline gradually.
All the smartphone manufacturers are waiting for iPhone 4S demand to come down, said a source to the Taiwanese publication. In addition, Mobile World Congress 2012 will be held from February 27 to March 1 in the Spanish city of Barcelona. It is expected that during this event, world’s leading producers will announce their upcoming new products, but the gadgets announced by Samsung, HTC, Nokia and LG will probably not hit the market until next quarter.
At the same time, it has become known from unofficial sources that Samsung has decided not to announce at MWC its new flagship smartphone Galaxy S III, but postponed the announcement closer beginning of summer.
Sales of iPhone 4S began in many countries including the United States on October 14, 2011. Till date, the latest model of Apple’s smartphone has been selling officially with huge popularity in more than 60 countries around the world.
