Microsoft has confirmed a definitive Windows 8 launch date in October.
The news comes to us via post by the Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft using its @Windows account on Twitter today saying:
“Mark your calendar: Windows 8 will be available on October 26th, 2012 http://win8.ms/qwbb2e #Windows8”

Furthermore, Microsoft’s Windows chief Steven Sinofsky has been quoted as confirming the same Windows 8 launch date during a talk at the Microsoft annual sales meeting.
Windows 8 is said to be going to Microsoft’s partner original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) during the first week of August.
The Windows 8 launch date confirmed by Microsoft will be for all four versions of the latest Windows operating systems.
These four versions are Windows 8 Pro, Windows 8 Enterprise, Windows 8 and Windows 8 RT. Windows 8 RT is what was previously named by Microsoft as Windows 8 on Arm or WoA until it changed its mind and went for the initials for “runtime” for its ARM-compatible OS version.
Previously, Microsoft has pegged the Windows 8 launch date to be some time in October but this is the first time the company has committed to an exact date for the launch.
